About Suzie A.K.A “Sooz”

Suzie Dempster is a “mostly” self-taught, Canadian multi-media artist. After dropping out of art school in 2018 due to mental health reasons, she used online and offline resources to teach herself new mediums and techniques to fill the gaps of knowledge and skills in her repertoire.

One aspect of Suzie’s art practice that she is very passionate about is giving back through her art, to marginalized groups in her community.

She does this through the “Boobz by Sooz” side of her business, creating embroideries with the goal of normalizing and desexualizing the image of female presenting nipples and donating a portion of each piece bought to a different organization each month. She enjoys collaborating with charities who have a positive impact on groups who are often left behind or under served by society, due in part to her experiences as a queer, neurodivergent, disabled woman.

Suzie is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, but considers herself “an artist traveling between Calgary and Saskatoon” and spends a lot of her time selling her art at events in both cities throughout the year.

She spends her days in her 100+ year-old house with her partner, Kyle, and dog, Lyra, and spends most her time creating art, reading books and indulging in creative writing.
